Pacers outgun Bucks in double overtime

Basketball Betting Lines

02/22/2007 - Indianapolis, IN (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Jermaine O'Neal had 29 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Indiana Pacers over the Milwaukee Bucks, 136-129, in double-overtime at Conseco Fieldhouse.

Danny Granger added 26 points and seven boards and Marquis Daniels tallied 22 points for the Pacers, who had trouble closing the door before finally coming away with their third straight win.

Michael Redd had 38 points for the Bucks, who have dropped six straight. Mo Williams tallied 24 points with 10 assists for Milwaukee, which has also dropped nine of its last 10 outings.

After four full quarters and one overtime couldn't decide it, the Pacers finally pulled away in the second extra session. Indiana scored the first five points of the frame and this time held on for the win. Jamal Tinsley drained a three-pointer just over a minute into action for a 127-122 advantage.

The Bucks later drew within 129-126, but Troy Murphy converted a bucket with under 90 seconds to play to extend the lead back to five points and the Pacers hit their free throws down the stretch for the win.

Indiana had blown a late fourth-quarter lead and a 122-118 cushion with a minute to play in the first OT.

Tinsley ended with 11 points and 11 assists, while Murphy had 19 points and 10 boards for Indiana, which has won all three meetings thus far this season against the Bucks.

"That was a character builder for our club," said O'Neal. "We never looked worried in the huddle. We got the win, that's the most important."

Indiana led for virtually the entire contest, but Milwaukee was always within striking distance. The Bucks drew within 108-107 after a pair of Redd free throws with just over a minute to play. About 30 seconds earlier Redd made it a three-point game by draining a trey.

The Pacers, however, answered behind O'Neal. The All-Star converted a three- point play and Murphy hit a pair of free throws to extend the lead to 113-107.

Then, ahead 114-109, the Pacers fell asleep. Indiana conceded a driving layup to Redd with just over 20 seconds remaining. Charlie Bell then stole the ensuing inbounds pass from the hands of Darrell Armstrong in the left corner and in one motion turned and fired a three-pointer that went in with 20.3 seconds left to tie the game.

Indiana had a chance to win it at the buzzer, but Daniels' putback of an O'Neal miss bounced out and the teams went to overtime.

Bell had 21 points for the Bucks.

"It was an emotional game," said Bucks head coach Terry Stotts. "Sometimes things go your way and some time they don't. We did a good job of fighting through everything and coming back."

Game Notes

Michael Dunleavy had 16 points for the Pacers...Andrew Bogut tallied 19 points for Milwaukee...Indiana held a 52-39 advantage on the boards and hit 44-of-54 free throws compared to 26-of-38 for the Bucks...Milwaukee stayed in the game by hitting 11-of-24 three-pointers...Indiana hit only 4-of-18 from beyond the arc.

Super Bowl XLIV Odds

Super Bowl XLIII isn't even a week old yet and oddsmakers have already released Super Bowl XLIV odds.

Despite the Pittsburgh Steelers winning Super Bowl 43, the New England Patriots are 8/1 favorites to win Super Bowl 44.

Bet Super Bowl XLIV Future Odds

With their 27-23 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII, the Steelers became the latest NFL champion. But believe it or not, oddsmakers from online sports book MySportsbook.com don't have the Steelers the favorites to win Super Bowl XLIV next season.

That honor belongs to the New England Patriots, who are 8/1 favorites to win despite not even qualify for the postseason in 2008. The Pats also have a major decision to make regarding what to do with Matt Cassel, who played well in Tom Brady's (knee surgery) absence last year but is also a free agent this offseason.

Ironically, the Steelers aren't even oddsmakers second choice to win Super Bowl 44, as the Dallas Cowboys are listed right behind the Patriots at 9/1 despite not making the playoffs themselves. Clearly oddsmakers think the public will hop back on the Cowboys' bandwagon considering the immense talent they have and the opening of a brand new stadium.

After Dallas, then comes Pittsburgh at 10/1, but they share those odds with the New York Giants, who won Super Bowl XLII. The Indianapolis Colts and San Diego Chargers round out the top six teams at 12/1, while the Baltimore Ravens (14/1), Tennessee Titans (16/1), Carolina Panthers (18/1) and Philadelphia Eagles (18/1) complete the top 10.

The NFC Champion Arizona Cardinals got no love from oddsmakers as they were established as a 30/1 long shot to win next year's Super Bowl. They share those same odds with the Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers – two teams that didn't even qualify for the postseason. Other long shots are the Kansas City Chiefs (100/1), Detroit Lions (100/1), St. Louis Rams (75/1) and Oakland Raiders (75/1).
